Our academic expectations are high. We have been within the top three in grades, if not the top in grades, for 57 out of the last 60 semesters. Our academic success is strictly due to the quality of men we recruit. We pride ourselves on our academic achievements as success in college usually leads to a successful life. In the fall of 2017 we set the record for the highest overall semester GPA for a fraternity in Kansas State University history. This achievement was instrumental to our chapter winning the annual Theta Xi memorial trophy, which is awarded to the most outstanding Theta Xi chapter of the year.

At Theta Xi we are strong believers in independency; thus, we do not require any study hours for members. If you need somebody to tell you when and how to study, then you should not be in college. Instead we have quiet hours from 7 p.m. to 7.am Sunday through Thursday to create an environment where members can study on their own time in a peaceful setting.

We have members from every college at K-State and in a variety of different majors. We have pre-health students, engineers, pre-law students, business students, future teachers, etc. This variety in majors allows our younger members to seek advice and guidance from upper classmen in their same major. Overall, Theta Xi is ultimately a step towards success later in life. We take our academics seriously, but we are also in college. We have date parties, intramural games, brotherhood events, and many more activities and events to take a break from academics in order to receive the whole college experience.

Philanthropy continues to be a major focus of Theta Xi. Being an organization with over 60 members, we are able to organize large philanthropy events to donate money towards causes we support. Nationally, Theta Xi Fraternity donates to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and volunteers at Habitat for Humanity. For more information on multiple sclerosis, click here. At the Alpha Iota chapter we also donate philanthropic profits to K-State Proud. K-State Proud is an on-campus organization in which many of our members are involved and supports K-State students who require financial support.

During the 2017-2018 school year, our chapter raised over $5,000 from our three annual philanthropy events. In the fall, we hosted two philanthropies: HBO GO & Cookie dough and Britt’s Farm Corn Maze. In the spring we hosted our annual Fish Fry with Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

In the Fall of 2018 we had a joint philanthropy with the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. The Philanthropy involved a cookout at Phi delta Theta’s house with yard games, basketball, and much more. The event raised over $4,000 for charity and was a great success!

For the past two years Theta Xi has been crowned intramural champions. In 2017-2018 we won volleyball, swimming, singles and doubles tennis, ping-pong, 1-on-1 basketball, badminton, racquetball, two and three wall handball, and placed second in basketball. While we compete hard in every sport, we also have a second team in every sport that is just for fun. In basketball we actually have four teams: House team, Shaqers, Beer Hawgs, and most importantly the Steamers. We encourage every member to play at least one intramural because they are a great way to take a break from school and relive glory days from high school.

School Involvement

We require every member to be involved in at least one on-campus organization. Most of our members are involved in more than one organization and hold leadership positions as well. Some clubs or organizations we are involved in include: Student Governing Association, Rocketry Club, Student Foundation, undergraduate research, accounting advocates, pre-med club, Inter-fraternity Council, Engineering Ambassadors, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, to name a few. We pride ourselves on our school involvement and are looking for members who share the same mentality.
